Instagram tips #1: Grid validation

One single instagram post on its own doesn’t really exist. They’re all part of a bigger a picture—your instagram grid.

The instagram grid is the first insight into your profile, and for many customers, your social profile is validation. Validation that you are who you say you are, validation of what you sell and validation that you know what you’re doing.

In the world of immediate communications it can be all too easy to push new content out without considering this, and the result tends to be a messy grid.

Messy grid = messy validation.

So, here’s a couple of simple rules to consider:

  1. Consider your brand and be consistent with your style. It doesn’t need to be polished, just recognisable.

  2. Plan your posts. Last minute messaging can be communicated in much more effective ways.

  3. Create a pattern. Posted already about one aspect of your offering? Share something different.

  4. If you rely on infographics, alternate your designs but keep them cohesive.

  5. Use Reel covers and ensure it matches the rest of the grid.

  6. Pin important, core messaged to the top of your profile.

  7. Archive out-of-date posts that no longer serves a purpose.
